J. Gresham Barrett Joins Tephracor Advisory Board, Offering Global Reach To Address World Wide Hunger

J. Gresham Barrett is an experienced diplomat and negotiator, having served in several high level government and international appointments. “It is a great honor for me to be part of the Tephracor team as I firmly believe that its product truly has the ability to battle global hunger and food instability. It can change the world.”

Mr. Barrett’s most recent assignment was as Chief of Staff of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) under former Governor David Beasley, Executive Director, Rome. Prior to this appointment,  Mr. Barrett was the Senior Director of the WFP Washington D.C. office. During Mr. Barrett’s tenure at the WFP, he interacted with numerous Heads of State and global Ambassadors and oversaw the operations of the six global regional Directors.

Mr. Barrett is also the recipient of the Nobel Peace prize though his position as Chief of Staff at the World Food Program(WFP) when this honor was awarded to the  WFP.

Mr. Barrett is also a former U.S. Congressman from the 3rd District of South Carolina where he served for four terms.  Prior to Mr. Barrett’s tenure as Congressman, Gresham served as State Representative in the South Carolina House of Representatives where he was instrumental in developing South Carolina’s energy policy.

A graduate of The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, Mr. Barrett served as an officer in the United States Army Field Artillery and resigned his commission as a Captain in 1987.   For his outstanding service, Mr. Barrett was awarded the Order of St. Barbara which is only awarded to soldiers who serve in the Field Artillery and have demonstrated the highest standards of integrity, moral character and professional competence.

Mr. Barrett still remains active in numerous aspects of the humanitarian arena is a man of great faith as he celebrates his marriage of 39 years with three children and six grandchildren.
