The basalt in TephraMax ® counteracts N2O emissions associated with agricultural practices, which helps retain N in soil. The bicarbonate produced when TephraMax® is applied stabilizes soil pH, reducing the production and release of N2O. Using TephraMax® basaltic volcanic rock for soil remineralization reduces chemical fertilizer runoff through decreased use of traditional fertilizers and lime.
